Osprey grew from one person’s desire to use and make more comfortable, longer lasting and functionally sound packs. Over the last forty-something years we’ve stayed true to this ethos as we’ve grown as a company and a brand. Our company’s founder, Mike Pfotenhauer, is still the mad hatter leading our designs and innovations. Osprey is a melting pot of professional misfits, there’s no mold to fit here. We live, work and play in Cortez, Colorado, where life moves at a slower pace and traffic jams are caused by cattle drives. Everywhere we look, from the desert canyons to our west, to the grandeur of the San Juan mountains to our east, we’re immersed in natural riches. There’s always something new to find if you’re willing to scratch below the surface. We’re inspired by and celebrate the desire to explore life with curiosity and passion. We don’t believe that adventure is accessible to few. It’s open to everyone and is found anywhere you have the willingness to look.
